Six Sigma Green Belts are improvement professionals that spend a portion of their time on process improvement teams, with the other portion of their time being dedicated to their full-time job. Green Belts often work under the direction of a Black Belt to lead key activities within the DMAIC process. Some activities could be conducting surveys of focus groups to capture and assimilate voice of the customer. Or facilitate a group of operators to draft a current state process map or swimlane. More advanced activities include design the data collection plan and analyze data to determine root cause.
The Green Belt plays a critical role within the Lean organization because they add capacity to the organization’s ability to improve, while allowing the organization’s Black Belts to operate at a higher level.
